Matt Damon reveals his intentions behind his infamous Crypto ad

In October 2021, the American actor Matt Damon appeared in a crypto.com advertisement. This ad created a ruffle in the industry for good and bad reasons. The promo, produced in a future scenario, encourages consumers to take their chances and join the bitcoin bandwagon utilising the platform’s services. Damon reminds viewers in the ad that “fortune favours the brave,” equating crypto investors to arctic explorers, the Wright brothers, and astronauts.

Damon has now revealed why he starred in the commercial. Damon felt slightly embarrassed as he revealed his rationale for appearing in the ad to the Associated Press on March 27 at the premiere of his new flick. He stated that it was primarily due to his clean water program, Water.org.

“We had a down year in water.org and I did that commercial in an attempt to raise money for water.org,” claimed Damon.

Crypto.com is a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange. According to reports, the corporation has 50 million clients and 4,000 staff as of May 2022. Crypto.com is a cryptocurrency exchange that allows you to trade, invest, stake, and use wallets, NFTs, and other services.  Cronos, the exchange’s own exchange token, is issued. This exchange supports over 250 different currencies, has moderate fees, and gives discounts to customers who own a considerable amount of Crypto.com’s native coin, CRO.

Damon co-founded the clean water initiative with engineer and philanthropist Gary White in 2009. Its goal is to enhance worldwide access to clean water by offering modest loans to fund the purchase and installation of water taps and toilets.

“I gave my whole salary to water.org because we were down, and Crypto.com heard about that, and they gave $1 million to water.org completely on their own,” he said. “I definitely have a lot of gratitude to them for what they did for our foundation.”

A few weeks after the ad with the actor, the exchange finalised its most widely known marketing campaign, inking a $700 million agreement with Los Angeles’ historic Staples Center. As a result, the home arenas of the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers were renamed Crypto.com Arena.

In October 2021, Crypto.com made a $1 million direct donation to water.org, with the primary purpose of helping the nonprofit’s mission to provide clean water and sanitation to people in need. The collaboration aimed to develop campaigns that would inspire Crypto.com users all around the world to support the cause.
