Bitget a cryptocurrency exchange has introduced the “Blockchain4Her” initiative, aimed at supporting female-led businesses in the blockchain and Web3 sector. The program includes the launch of incubation programs tailored for female entrepreneurs and a $10 million fund dedicated to supporting startups led by women in the blockchain industry. Bitget’s study revealed that female-led blockchain startups secured only 6% of the total funding in the blockchain sector, highlighting the gender disparity in the blockchain funding market.
The Blockchain4Her initiative aims to address this gender gap through incubation programs, pitch competitions, and recognition events, empowering women to take on leadership roles in the Web3 and blockchain space. The announcement was made during the Web3 Hub Davos event hosted by CV Labs at the World Economic Forum 2024.
In a recent report from Bitget on blockchain funding in 2022 and 2023 highlighted gender disparities in the venture capital ecosystem, revealing that female-led Web3 firms received only $1.77 billion out of the $27.85 billion received by blockchain startups during the period. The Blockchain4Her initiative aims to provide support, mentorship, and resources for female-founded startups, offering them a platform to showcase their businesses and secure investment.
Bitget has also launched the Blockchain for Youth program, which includes a $10 million fund to invest in blockchain startups globally. The initiative reflects Bitget’s commitment to empowering the youth in the crypto space through various initiatives, including educational campaigns and meetups in regions such as Japan, Argentina, Australia, Dubai, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada, and India.
Gracy Chen, Managing Director of Bitget, emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in the rapidly evolving blockchain industry, stating that the Blockchain4Her initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating a more equitable and inclusive future through the power of blockchain. The program aims to bridge the gender gap by providing support, mentorship, and resources to female entrepreneurs and encouraging their leadership roles in the Web3 and blockchain space.
