The recent post of US President Joe Biden’s featuring laser-eyed avatars on his X and Instagram accounts has piqued the interest of the crypto community.
The post, shared late Sunday, was accompanied by the caption: “Just like we drew it up.”
Biden’s social media activity followed the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, securing their third title in five years. “Just like we drew it up” is a phrase commonly used in sports to signify that plans were executed successfully.
However, the inclusion of the laser-eyed graphic in Biden’s post led to speculation among online observers. This graphic is often associated with showing support for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin during periods of market growth, as well as fostering a sense of community within the crypto sphere.
Some speculated that an intern may have been behind Biden’s post, with one Instagram user commenting, “Gen Z social media manager for sure.”
While Biden himself has not explicitly expressed personal support for cryptocurrencies, his administration has taken steps to regulate and explore digital assets and central bank digital currencies.
Meanwhile, hedge fund veteran Anthony Scaramucci has urged the crypto community to throw their support behind Biden, suggesting that the Democrat may be a preferable choice to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in the upcoming elections.
However, Representative Dean Phillips has criticized both Biden and Trump for their perceived lack of understanding regarding cryptocurrencies. Phillips argued that neither candidate is adequately equipped to comprehend, prepare for, or lead the country into the digital future, stating, “Joe Biden and Donald Trump, at their age and stage of life, are simply not the right people to lead us forward.”
